Firewall Protection

LGfL’s firewalls are designed to protect schools from external threats.

We operate a very secure network which protects schools. As far as we can we implement firewall policies that will keep the school secure, but firewall rules may need to be further amended by the school.

Every school connection is supplied with a fully managed and supported firewall that has been preconfigured to each school’s connectivity requirement.

Through the effective deployment of a firewall at each connected site, LGfL protects schools from malicious attacks over the internet and helps keep staff and students safe online.

Firewall Configuration

Firewall Configuration for the LGfL Network has been designed with an any-to-any topology in mind. The rationale is based on a more efficient access approach to Network resources, to which additional services can be quickly applied.

  • By default, LGfL applies robust Firewall rules. As an individual establishment, you are able to configure your own internet filtering rules using our WebScreen Software.

  • For any additional firewall rules, a request should be made via the support portal, https://support.lgfl.org.uk this allows outbound connections to other services, which may require certain Ports to be opened up.

  • To request additional MIPs (a Mapped IP Address, which allows traffic for a particular IP on the Internet to a specific private IP address on your Schools LAN) a request should be made via the support portal, https://support.lgfl.org.uk
