New Discussion Forums
Due for release as part of Site Release 1.5 end of July/beginning of August 2007
The new Forum application has been developed to replace the existing mail discussion functionality within Digitalbrain. Re-designed from the ground up, Forums bring with them massive improvements in terms of look and usability. Developed using our Portlet technology this new application meets and exceeds all current BECTA requirements for a discussion forum within a Learning Platforms.
Key features include:
- RSS and ATOM Syndication
- Moderation options (approve, edit, decline)
- Administrators will be able to edit or delete the posts of others
- Posters will be able to edit and delete their posts
- Full text search of all posts within a forum
- Ability to archive or hide topics
- The ability to subscribe to posts and receive updates via e-mail
- Profanity checking for text within posts
- Forums will pull through to course/community and personal homepages
- Use of the DB nickname to represent the user
Once live these will be a direct replacement for Mail Discussions. You will no longer be able to create mail discussions but those in existence will not be removed at this time
