How do I test my VC unit (QA test)?
JVCS-check is an automated testing service to check your system is working well.
Login to the JVCS booking service here:
http://www.jvcs.ja.net/cgi-bin/vcng/welcome.cgi and select JVCS-check.
Alternatively, you can book a QA test to have a JVCS operator ensure your system working well – this is recommended when first installed.
- To test speakers - connect to the “London Bridge Test room” (0044020708400) you should hear “you are the only participant in the conference.
- To test Microphone and Speakers, use the “JVCS Check” service. Login to the JVCS booking service and select JVCS-check here:
http://www.jvcs.ja.net/cgi-bin/vcng/welcome.cgi.
- Most VC units have diagnostics to test whether the speakers and Microphone are working.

You can connect a laptop VGA output to the DVI/VGA input on the VC unit to show data in a conference.
Follow the steps on your laptop as though you were connecting the laptop to a projector i.e. select external screen using the function keys on the laptop (typically fn F8) and/or use the display configuration program in control panel to set the resolution (usually 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 768).
When in a conference, to show data to the far-end, change the input video to the PC input using the VC unit’s remote control. Alternatively, if all VC units in the call support “dual streaming” capability, press the “dual streaming” button on the remote control.
How you link your PC to your VC equipment
You may run a video test to the London Grid network. If you dial and connect successfully to this E164 number then you should be able to use the Janet Video Conferencing Booking Service (JVCS) once you have registered with JVCS.
