Looking to order GridStore? Please see the order form on the documentation tab

The GridStore annual charge is calculated at £150, plus £150 per 100GB of storage required, please see the pricing structure below. The first 100GB is included for LGfL 2.0 subscribing secondary schools:

Storage Size Annual Charge
50GB £225
100GB £300
200GB £450
300GB £600
400GB £750
500GB £900
Per additional 100GB £150

To back up SIMS data an additional £50 p.a. SIMS plug-in is required. Alternatively to avoid this charge an example script file for use with SIMS is available for users who are confident to implement this independently. For full details see the Technical info / Support tab.

All GridStore service pricing is excluding VAT and per annum. A 3 year minimum term applies, with service renewal invoices generated automatically for years 2 and 3.

Note: Calculate the total amount of storage required for all devices you are backing up and choose the relevant amount of storage from the pricing structure above. If purchasing more than 500GB, or if you are an existing GridStore customer requiring more storage, order additional storage in blocks of 100GB at £150.

For example a total of 900GB storage should be ordered in this way:

1 x 500GB  £900
4 x additional 100GB £600
Total   £1500

To set-up the LGfL GridStore service for your school, please complete the relevant form from the LGfL USO Support Site, and raise a purchase order made out to Atomwide. The school’s USO Nominated Contact dealing with the local deployment of GridStore should then upload both the set-up form and PO to a GridStore Service Order case via the Support Site, or email them to gridstore@lgfl.org.uk

Before uploading or emailing your purchase order, please ensure that it clearly indicates the LGfL GridStore service, and is made out to:  Atomwide Limited, 2-3 Ravensquay Business Centre, Cray Avenue, Orpington, Kent, BR5 4BQ. Atomwide is LGfL’s appointed agent to manage the general sale and support of the LGfL GridStore service

Purchase orders being placed via LAs, or LGfL Partners, should be readdressed and forwarded with your setup form to the relevant party as appropriate.

Customers still signed up to the SecureStore service can place an order for GridStore now.  The new service will be invoiced at the anniversary of the existing SecureStore service.

As an alternative to the SIMS plug-in an example script file for use with SIMS is available. It is a simple DOS script that assumes that the SQL server is installed in the default path. It also assumes that the destination drive exists and it is part of the backup file set, this may have to be modified by the IT staff or support representative.

This script should be run from within a batch or CMD file using administrator privileges.

The script should be scheduled to run before the backup and at a time when the users will not be using SIMS.  Another conflict could be USO-AutoUpdate and/or a Fronter export for the LondonMLE, so getting the time window correct is critical.

Depending on the server this script may take 3-4 minutes to fully execute.  Just in case the script fails, as a precaution you can run a batch file with “net start mssql$sims2008” which would be scheduled 15 minutes after the initial script just in case the main script fails and this will restart the service.

Download the script

Further support for the above SIMS script file is provided direct from the LGfL offices.
