PRINCIPLE 2 : CPD for all staff

Every member of staff is encouraged to participate in a programme of learning within a school framework and to share their learning.

Teaching staff negotiate their development programme with the school’s CPD Co-ordinator.

All teaching staff and teaching assistants have individual learning plans that are supported by the team leader and that link to performance management, team plans and school improvement plans.

All staff have an individual learning plan that impacts directly or indirectly on teaching and learning; that has been negotiated with the team leader and that supports performance management targets and school improvement priorities.

All teaching staff are encouraged to engage in CPD opportunities.

Within the job profile of all teaching staff and teaching assistants, it is clear that individuals are responsible for their ongoing professional learning.

As stated in the job profile, each individual is responsible for their ongoing professional learning and understands its impact on standards and school improvement.

All new teachers and teaching assistants joining the school are entitled to an induction programme. The school meets the statutory requirements for the induction of newly qualified teachers, including 10% non-contact time.

All new staff joining the school are entitled to an induction programme. Teachers in the first five years of teaching are entitled to participate in a framework of support.

Some other staff cohorts are supported by tailor made learning programmes.

There is a published framework of entitlement which informs all staff of opportunities for career and professional development linked to national standards and competencies, including Chartered London Teacher standards.
