About Sandra Agard

I was born in Hackney to Guyanese parents and I am a Writer and Storyteller. My repertoire includes stories from all over the world. I run regular storytelling, creative writing and reading development sessions in schools and in the community. My poetry and short stories have been published in Talking Blues, A Girl's Best Friend, Watchers and Seekers, Tales, Myths and Legends, Time for Telling and Unheard Voices. I have written plays. Currently I am touring Treasures of the Rainforest with the Flautist and Composer, Keith Waithe. I tell tales from all over the world and have a particular love for tales from Africa, African-American and Caribbean backgrounds. I also have been involved in several Black British oral history projects. I still live in East London and currently work as a Literature Development in South London at Peckham and Downham Libraries.
