DING EYES CRUCIBLE RECORD

Ding Junhui has qualified for the final stages of the World Championship for the first time; the Chinese teenager reaching the Crucible with a 10-6 victory against Mark Davis.

Although Ding took an early lead at Sheffield's English Institute of Sport, Davis put together breaks of 129, 73 and 79 as he fought back to take a 4-2 lead.

Another big break, this time of 117, allowed Davis to hold a 5-4 lead at the end of the opening session, before Ding mounted his own comeback.

After levelling proceedings at six frames apiece, Ding then took the 13th frame on the black, before a clearance beginning with the last red offered him a two-frame lead.

Two century breaks of 114 and 126 then secured the victory for Ding, and with it the chance to eclipse Stephen Hendry's record - set as a 21-year-old in 1990 - as the sport's youngest world champion.
