Recorded at St Mary of the Angels on Monday 12th March

1. Who motivated you to become an MP?

There wasn’t really anyone but, there was one lady working for Labour called Barbara Castle at the time.

2. How do you feel about the Conservative party at the next election and David Cameron as a leader?

The Conservative’s have gotten stronger in the last 10 years. I think they will do better in the future but, they are not saying much so they won’t get elected.

3. Why did you win the woman of the year awards?

I won it for helping individuals, trying to solve family problems and I’ve argued for a lot of money for several reasons.

4. How do you feel about Tony Blair leaving his post?

Well, when you are at a top level it’s a stressful job and in some countries they, only allow you to stay for a few years. Tony Blair has been excellent and maybe it's time for him to move on.

5. Do you think it was right for Blair to invade Iraq?

I do not agree with the war but, Sudan Hussain was a horrible and evil man. I have a lot of concerns about the weapons being used and the civillian deaths. But its better that he is dead because he was a very awful man.

6. Some of our year 6’s have had problems with our secondary school choices, what do you think needs to change?

Westminster has not had the best secondary schools. We are building new academies in Harrow road, Oaklington road and Church Street. There’s a man in charge of education Alan Johnson who gives big money to those who are falling behind in lessons I have persuaded him to give some funds towards personalised learning in Westminster.

7. What do you think about faith schools?

I think most faith schools are very popular and have a very good attitude. My worry is that we need to make sure the community mix.

8. Do you think ASBO’S are effective?

I think ASBO’s are effective. They give people an opportunity to sort their problems out so they do not need to go to jail. They are a few people who wont change that’s why they go to jail.

9. Do you think the extension of the congestion zone works?

It’s a little early to tell. I disagreed with the extension of the Congestion Charge. But I think people need to use cars less.

10. Do you believe the congestion charge should be as expensive?

As I said I disagree with the congestion charge but it may stop people using cars and polluting the air.

11) How are you planning to stop the use of hand guns in gangs?

In 1996 we banned the use of hand guns altogether after a terrible shooting. There are replica guns which are part of the problem because they will attract people, and can be converted to fire real bullets. We are bringing in new legislation to prevent these falling into the wrong hands.
