Fr Alan's INTERVIEW 1. How do you feel about 150 years of the Parish? It’s a great parish and it's very exciting. The church was founded by Father Manning who then went on to become the Cardinal of Westminster and his assistant who went on to be the Archbishop which is interesting. The church has never been consecrated and now it is finally happening on the 4th November at 11am by the cardinal. It has a long-history and interesting people. I’m excited to be part of it at this time. 2. When did you become a priest here? I have been here for 5 years. A lot has happened. I’ve become very involved in people’s lives, during both happy times and sad times. I feel that I know the people really well. 3. How has it changed in your time here? It has become really trendy. House prices have risen but other accommodation keeps the area on the ground. A lot of famous people live here. A convent is now being changed into a Dolice and Gabbana shop! Or so rumour has it. 4. What plans have you got for celebrating 150 years of the parish? Well there will be a pilgrimage to Milan and the Halian lakes at the end of May.It will be in the steps of St Charles Borromeo. There will be a mass and we will meet the Archbishop. There are leaflets at the church that will give anyone interested more information. 5.What other plans do you have? There will be a dinner dance at The Hilton at Kensington and we booked a magician to perform at this! We’ve planned concerts and recitals and the school is organising a Victorian Exhibition! It's all hands on deck. We’re even looking for old school members to come by using Friends Reunited. So, if any of you are reading this... 6. What do you do in your spare time? Not much. As I don’t a lot of free time. I do a lot of reading and I’m a bit of a musician .I play the piano. I love going to the opera and ballets. 7. What is the favourite part of your job? Saying the mass and playing. I get up at 5:30am. I used to be part of a monastry and I enjoy this quiet reflective time of the morning to pray. 8. Do you enjoy working with the school? Yes. It is an easy relationship with the school; they let me in anytime. It is a good relationship to have a vibrant and easy one at that! By:Maxwell and Jade Click here for more information
