Isabel Wolff the Famous English author, came to our school for an exclusive interview. We invited her to talk to the year six class about her life as an author.

She explained how she became an author by chance. Originally she was a journalist for the Daily Telegraph where she wrote a column called ‘Tiffany Trott’. Due to her success, she was approached by a publishing company to write her first novel.

Since then, she has written seven novels, her most recent (out this week) being ‘Forget Me Not’. She sets all her books in London but in different areas. The majority of her ideas are based on experiences which she has had and conversations which she has overheard.

Each book takes approximately three years from planning to publication. Isabel Wolff had told us that it can take approximately six months on plotting and planning and six months on writing the book.

Her five top tips for young writers are:

1. Do a lot of research on all of your ideas

2. Always have a plot first

3. Self-discipline and application

4. Get help from friends and family about layout

5. Be realistic

You can be a famous author too…..
