What is red nose day?

Well red nose day aims to raise money for comic relief for needy causes by doing big crazy things.

By doing this you’ll be helping children in Africa and the UK.

 

When it started:

Red nose day started in 1985 on Christmas Day on BBC 1.

It started by comedians, like Lenny Henry, Cathrine Tate, who wanted to use comedy and laught to let people know about poverty in the UK and Africa.

Since then £425million has been raised.

 

When red Nose day is:

This year, Red Nose day is on Friday 16th March 2007, it’s every two years.

 

Where does the money go?

All the money goes to the needy in Africa and the UK.

40% of the money goes to the UK

And 60% goes to Africa.

 

Fundraising ideas:

There are lots of things you can do such as:

1. Dye, shave or wax, whatever you do with your hair get sponsored.

2. Bath in baked beans.

3. Grunge your friend’s, family and neighbour.

4. Hold a quiz with friends and family.

5. Bake red nose day cookies and sell them to friends and family.
