Admissions policy Completing the Registration form: We will not consider any application without proof of age, and in case of priorities 1-6, without a baptismal certificate. Completion of the Registration Form is no guarantee of admission. Admissions are made in accordance with the Admissions Policy below. Please read it carefully, and keep this information for further reference. You are strongly advised to register at more than one school. In the event of an unsuccessful application, you may:
- Seek a place in another school.
- Seek the advice of Westminster Education Authority.
- Take up the appeals procedure outlined in the Admission Policy.
- Apply for your application to be considered if a vacancy arises.
Complete the forms as fully as you can. If there is any change in any details you have given us let us know without delay. The Head Teacher is happy to explain to you verbally if there are any points that require further clarification. Admissions Policy Hampden Gurney CE Primary School, Nutford Place, London W1H 5HA admits a maximum of 30 rising five (5 years old), or statutory age children per year. This is in accordance with the 1998 School Standards and Framework Act. Currently children are admitted in September (those who will be 5 years old between September 1st and the end of February the following year), or in January (those who will be 5 years old between March 1st and August 31st that year). The children are selected from among the applicants who have completed the registration and application forms for admission to the school. Being in the Nursery does not guarantee a place in Reception. In deciding to admit a child to the school from amongst all the applicants, the governors will be guided by the following Order of Priority for all 30 places available. Order of Priority
- Children of Church of England residents within the Parish of the Annunciation who are consistent attendees of the Parish Church.
- Children of Christian residents within the Parish of the Annunciation who are consistent attendees of another Christian Church.
- Children of Christian families resident outside the Parish who are consistent attendees of the Parish Church.
- Children of Christian families resident outsdide the Parish who are consistent attendees of another Christian Church.
- Baptised members of the Church of England.
- Baptised members of other Christian Communions as recognised by Churches Together for whom Hampden Gurney is their nearest Church school.
- Siblings of present pupils.
- Others within the parish of the Annunciation, whose parents wish them to have a Christian education.
- Other children may be admitted, following consultation provided that the Governors are satisfied that there is a pastoral need for their admission.
For children to be admitted on the basis of priorities 1,2,3,4,5 and 6, it must be shown that the family has been involved in the work and worship of the Christian Church for a considerable period of time. The degree of involvement will be considered. Letters of support are required from a vicar, priest, pastor or minister. In these cases, where the degree of involvement is deemed to be of equal standing, places will be allocated in the order of nearest to the school. The Governors wish to make it clear that sibling links do not override the preceding criteria. Within any of the above criteria should there be more applications than places available, priority will then be given to those children living closest to the school (measured in a straight line). Proof of residence will be requested in support of the application. It is a condition of acceptance of a place that parents agree to their child/children being educated within the Christian ethos of the school, which includes attending religious assemblies. Any parent who has been refused entry for their child but still feels that they fulfil the conditions of entry, should consult agian with the Headteacher and then, if necessary, with the Clerk to the Governors Appeal Panel. Unsuccessful applicants have the right to appeal against the decision of the Governors. This appeal must be made in writing on a special form, which is available from the Headteacher. The form must be obtained wihin seven (7) days after receiving a letter informing the parents that the application has been unsuccessful and should be returned within ten (10) days of receipt. The Headteacher will then forward it to the Clerk of the Independent Appeals Panel. The Appeals Panel will meet to review the appeal on the day fixed by the Clerk. The appellant and a Governors' representative will be invited to attend. The decision of the appeals Panel is final and binding on both the Governors and the Appellant unless reversed by the Secretary of State. Closing Dates: September 30th for admissions the following September January 31st for admissions the following January March 31st for admission after the following Easter
