Outstanding Operas Singers

Burdett- Coutts Primary School had a surprise in store for their assembly on Thursday 8th March, 3 fabulous opera singers had come into their school to sing!

Something more surprising was that one of them was a Burdett- Coutts teacher!

Mrs Fletcher was singing! She had an extraordinary voice! She obviously made the other teachers look like fools! Our other singers were American Lori Lyn and Telman Guzhevsky from isreal. We started off with Telman singing M’appari (from the opera called Martha) Mr Carden accompanying him and all other songs. Everyone in the school thought he was excellent. We all clapped very hard. Next we had Lori singing Ebben Lontana and it was amazing. She had an excellent voice. Our audience went wild! Then we had Mrs Fletcher singing Lo Perduta (from The Marriage of Figaro). We weren’t surprised to see 1F screaming and clapping for their teacher! We then had a Question and Answer session with children asking the singers questions.

Some of them turned out to be quite personal but we did have sensible ones too.

We once again had Mrs Fletcher singing another song called Losing My Mind. It was another beautiful performance from Mrs Fletcher. We all gave her another clap. She did get very red indeed at this point!

We interviewed Miss.Fletcher and here the latest news on how it went. We had some very interesting answers from her. “Did you always want to become a singer” , was one of the questions. “Yes I did actually. I wanted to become a singer at an extremely young age and I got a place in an opera”. She also said she enjoys singing.

Finally we had something quite funny, Telman and Lori singing a love song. It was quite romantic and nearly everyone got the giggles! We all had a great time. We gave all the singers a massive round of applause. We also gave Mr Carden a massive round of applause. We enjoyed the assembly and was one of our best this year!!!!!!
