 How to become a governor

You can be appointed to the Governing Body in the following ways:

·        Parent Election: When a parent governor position becomes available, parents will be informed by a letter from the headteacher. Any parent can put him- or herself forward as a candidate. If there is more than one candidate, parents will take part in an election.

·        Community Governor: The governing body can co-opt parents or members of the local community to serve as governors.

·        Local Education Authority Governor: Appointed by LEA and representing the two main political parties in Wandsworth.

·        Teacher Governor: Voted by staff.

If you are interested in becoming a governor or would just like further information about what is involved, then please contact the Chair of Governors, Nithya Rae, by emailing governors@allfarthing.wandsworth.sch.uk or any other member of the Governing Body.

Further information about what is involved in being a governor can be found on Wandsworth Council’s site at http://www.wandsworth.gov.uk/Home/Childrenandyoungpeople/Education/Governors/edugovernors.htm.
