A Typical Visit with Half Day Tuition

• Arrive at Suntrap. Your coach will be met and you will be led to your classroom. (We have two upstairs rooms, and two downstairs. Please let us know in advance if you have any pupils with disabilities which would necessitate using a downstairs room.)

• A Suntrap teacher will introduce the topic you have chosen and explain to the children and staff what will be happening throughout the day. They will also inform or remind all present of fire evacuation procedures.

• All adults and pupils will need to bring a packed lunch, which includes a morning snack. The class will have a short break for a snack and toilets. Tea and coffee making facilities are available for staff and helpers. A small donation towards tea and coffee would be appreciated.

• Please encourage children to bring wellies and appropriate clothing with them, we may be able to supply some spare wellies and clothing, but supply is limited.

• The Suntrap teacher will then lead the class in the activity which may involve working in the Suntrap grounds or in the forest. All Suntrap teachers carry first aid kits and have radio contact with Suntrap.

• The class will return to Suntrap in time for lunch. When you will take over responsibility for your class. You are welcome to stay at Suntrap for the rest of the afternoon. A classroom will normally be available as a base.

• You may picnic in our garden but please note that areas to play in are just across the road from Suntrap in the forest.

• It is your responsibility to complete a risk assessment for this part of the day.

• Coach pick up time will have been agreed, please ensure you are ready on time as the driver will have other jobs to go to following your return to school.

• We have a range of souvenirs for sale if you feel it is appropriate, e.g. note books, pencils for about 50p-£1.

• We regard you as a member of the team, and while a Suntrap teacher may take the lead in an activity, your knowledge of your pupils is vital if they are to get the best out of the day.
