Our school prospectus says.......

"The children undertake an hour long numeracy session each day. The school is following the National Numeracy Strategy which aims to give children a secure foundation in mathematics to equip them for life. Each class has a daily mathematics lesson with direct teaching. There is an emphasis on mental calculation skills, but we also use practical exploration and experiences with as many activities as possible ."

KS1 Maths SATS

A Cake Sale was a fun way to reinforce Maths skills - a teacher helped this little Nursery boy to work out how much money he needed to buy these cakes!

Special needs

Some children have particular difficulty with Maths. We aim for every lesson to provide suitable challenge for every child in the class while making the children feel part of the class team.

We are lucky to have a dedicated team of Learning Support Assistants who give extra help to children who need it.

What your child will learn in Maths

Maths is a vital skill, used by all of us every day, from handling money to working out how much wallpaper to buy!

We believe that children learn best when they are doing practical things that relate to the real world. Our teachers plan together for progress and to ensure that all areas of Maths are covered. The main areas of Maths are :-
