Our Vision

At Canon Barnett pupils, parents, teachers and governors all work together to ensure that there is a positive learning environment where there are no barriers to learning.

Pupils can expect a high quality of teaching across a broad and balanced curriculum that allows all children to achieve to the level of the best. Teachers can expect pupils who are keen and who know how to learn.

The school will prepare its pupils for the roles and responsibilities they will face in this school, secondary school and the community.

Equal Opportunities Statement

Canon Barnett is committed to a policy of equal opportunities for all children and adults. The school will not tolerate discrimination on the grounds of class, race, sex or disability. If any such incidents occur either the Headteacher or Deputy-Head will deal them with immediately.

Race Equality Statement

Race equality is where all members of a school community feel valued, respected and understood, and know and feel that:
  • Every colour is a good colour and that all racist attitudes will be challenged
  • We achieve equality by treating everyone according to their needs and rights
  • Racial diversity is respected, valued and celebrated
  • Everyone recognises and exercises their rights, roles and responsibilities
