Barack Obama - A Role Model for Democratic Action

Fair Play Wall Town Hall School Council Session 4, part of Black History Month and Local Democracy Week and celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of the Year of the Child (dedicated to Janus Korczak), and the twentieth anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (inspired by the work and life of Korczak).

Gimbala, and his Embassy colleague, Danny, with the Tower Hamlets Mayor, Councillor Ahmed Omer, who welcomed them, the children and teachers to the Town Hall and his Parlour.

The Mayor made a speech in the Council Chamber, celebrating Barack Obama as the first black African American President. Councillor Omer is the first Somalian Mayor outside of Somalia.
