Fear or Fashion

       In this Webquest you will

  • Research some of the issues around carrying knifes,
  • Look at the fact that we have the right to go around our local area without fear, and we have responsibilities to ourself and others to ensure that right.
  • Think and show positive things you can do to address the issue of knifes.
  • Create a PowerPoint presentation of your findings.

According to young people, teachers and youth workers, young people carry knife because:

They are frightened and carry a knife to protect themselves, or

They are a member of a group or gang which carry knifes just out of fashion, or to seem brave. This is why we are calling this web quest "Fear or Fashion"

Research has shown, however, that 'you are more likely to be attacked and hurt, if you carry a knife, rather than be protected by it'.

More and more now, the media will report news in a very sensationalist way, they want people to be worried and scared as it means you will continue to watch their news to see what is being done about the issue. By carrying out these webquest we hope you will further understand the real facts and solutions to this issue.
