Learning with THAMES

Sorry, the Flash could not be rendered.

Tower Hamlets Arts & Music Education Service is committed to young people in the borough having access to a variety of music making opportunities. We have a set route for progression from the youngest to the oldest that covers Key Stages 1-5.

As part of the National Curriculum, music must be taught in schools, and we support that curriculum work through our dedicated team of Curriculum support staff. We also offer instrumental lessons from Key Stage 1 (depending on the instrument) and then through young people's school life and beyond.

Follow the link below to see our set progression route for learning a musical instrument with THAMES. Our model for this is based on the following:

First Contact Experience - lessons in school time in small or large groups
Second Contact Experience - after school ensmbles based in clusters around the borough
Second/Third Contact Experience - Saturday morning centre:large group instrumental ensembles
and more traditional ensembles
Third/Fourth Contact Experience - Cross-Borough ensembles
