Our Nursery
Our Nursery offers a bright and stimulating environment for children to learn. It encompasses the five outcomes of every child matters, where children enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution, keep safe, are healthy and can begin to prepare for economic well-being. These are met by exciting activities that match the six areas of learning.
The six areas of learning are:
 Personal, Social and Emotional development:
Here we work alongside the children, to build their self-esteem, confidence and motivation to learn. We help them to take turns, express their needs and accept others by using puppets, modelling good practice and playing turn-taking games.
Communication, Language and literacy:
We foster early literacy in the children by singing nursery rhymes, reading stories, using new vocabulary, using puppets and by focusing on a set of sounds each week. We encourage early mark making by using sand, pulses, whiteboards and writing templates such an invites/lists.
Problem Solving, Reason and Number:
We encourage children to develop an awareness of maths by giving them practical opportunities to experiment with shapes and numbers, by making patterns, sorting, matching and ordering them. We have a helper of the day that always counts how many children we have in that day.
Knowledge and understanding of the world:
We encourage children to ask questions about the environment including their school, their home environment and the wider world. We plan activities for the children to explore the environment for example planting outside, using the water trays to explore the water, floating, sinking and pouring and the sand tray again to explore, pouring, filling, texture etc. As well as opportunities to further their learning using ICT.
Physical Development:
We use the outside and inside environment to develop children’s fine and gross motor skills. Making sure children develop good hand eye co-ordination, good spacial awareness and an understanding of healthy practises.
Creative Development:
Children are encouraged to explore different media and develop a sense of creativity through music, dance role play and arts.    In the nursery we have a creative area where children can independently select resources and make whatever they wish.

We are a part-time nursery which caters for children in the morning from 9-11:30 and in the afternoon from 12:45-15:15.
