During the school year September 2007 to July 2008 the school started the Walk on Wednesday (WOW) scheme in association with the London Borough of Redbridge. The aim of the scheme is to reduce pollution and congestion around the school and to encourage more exercise for everyone to enjoy a healthier lifestyle.

Each class is given a monthly chart for the children and teacher to mark off whether they walk to school each day (or just on Wednesday), or come to school by car. Pupils who walk to school are rewarded by receiving a small badge each month. Last year the badges were a seasonal picture for each month (eg snowflakes for January). This year the badges depict famous landmarks throughout the UK (eg Big Ben).

To achieve badges each month pupils are to walk to school as often as possible. We know some families live too far from school to walk from door to door, so we suggest the Park and Walk scheme. This means adults park their cars a few streets away from the school and walk with their children as others do.

Thank you to all of you who support this scheme. We are trying to encourage as many pupils and families as possible to WOW!

KEEEEP WALKING!
