Oaks Park is a Specialist Music College, with a second specialism in Mathematics. We are a very forward-thinking and dynamic department, where “Maths Is Fun” and where students are stretched to succeed, often beyond their own expectations.
At Key Stage 3 students start in mixed ability groups. After a few weeks of working through the Primary-Secondary transition booklets they are placed in ability sets. Students follow the National Strategy and they are tested regularly. Extensive progress records are kept, which students use as part of their own target setting.
