| Oaks Park High School is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive school, situated in Newbury Park , Ilford. Opened in September 2001, Oaks Park now has over 1500 students, including over 300 in the Sixth Form. The school enjoys a good reputation for both academic success and achievements beyond the classroom. We recently had an Ofsted Inspection in October 2008. They commented ‘Oaks Park High is a good and improving school'. We were particularly pleased that they judged a number of areas of the school to be ‘outstanding'. These included the behaviour of learners, the curriculum, and the guidance and support offered by the school. Following the inspection we are all now determined to take the school from being good to outstanding. We are a Specialist Music College and as such offer a wide variety of opportunities to students of all abilities to develop their Musical talent. The specialism has had a big impact on the school. Ofsted commented – students are extremely positive about the way the Specialist Status has enabled everyone to ‘have a chance to do something musical'. We have an outstanding record of sporting achievement and already the school has a reputation both locally and beyond. Oaks Park is an important part of the local community and the school is open until 10.00pm each evening and also at weekends. We have appointed an Extended Schools' Co-ordinator who has the task of developing provision across our Extended Schools Cluster which consists of Oaks Park , William Torbitt and Newbury Park Primary schools . We hope that Oaks Park can offer your son or daughter a first class education and provide them with opportunities to develop their skills and interests. Steve Wilks Headteacher |
