English

At Tolworth Infants' School we enjoy all aspects of English. We love reading - either at home, with our teacher, in a group, on our own or in paired reading sessions. We also enjoy visits to our school Library to choose new books and learn how to file and look after the books in our school. Children in Year Two have the opportunity to be part of our Library Club. This involves learning new skills and keeping the library tidy.

We are very lucky to have lots of different visitors coming to our school, these visits give us interesting things to talk and write about. We are getting even better with our spelling and reading now we are using a new scheme in our school - Letterland.

Every year we hold a book week at Tolworth Infants' School. Many different events happen in this week including - visits from Authors, Book Fairs, competitions and dressing up! This week is always lots of fun and very successful.

For the past two years the children in Year One and Two have been taking part in the 'Kingston Reading and Performing Arts Festival'. The children perform group and solo items, they practise hard and are always very successful.
