Thursday

Started the day in the Reception class, introducing the children to the Digi-Blue Cameras. We had enough for one between two and the children took turns filming each other playing with different bits of PE equipment. As well as video, we showed the children how to take stills and when it came to downloading their work on the computer, some of the children had taken over 40 shots! Some of the pictures and video were great and the children will now have a really good idea about how to shoot their “Little Red Hen” productions later in the term.

From Reception, I went straight into working with the upper school PE department, devising techniques for incorporating Whiteboards and Video into GCSE PE lessons! This took some time as the teachers hadn’t used the equipment before but they left the session with some excellent ways to improve lessons.

I spent the afternoon working with the Upper school ICT teacher who wanted to know about control and monitoring. As the lower school had bought lots of the Newham tool kit, I was able to show her CoCo and the LogIT explorers.

After school, a group of us went out to a gun club where we took turns firing real guns with real bullets at paper targets. I found the experience thoroughly enjoyable and feel slightly worried about this. At least I am a better shot than I am a pool player!

After that we went out for a meal to a fantastic Steakhouse called the Outback. I am getting rather concerned now that I am getting too used to American portions.
