Go Back Wednesday Another busy day! Started in the morning working with the SENCO and other SEN staff who I introduced to Clicker 5. These teachers support children in both upper and lower schools and immediately saw applications and ideas for using Clicker with children throughout the school. They left full of enthusiasm and I hope they get the opportunity to see their ideas through. My second session was with the Y5 teachers who were interested in developing the Digi-Blue cameras (like the rest of the school). I was keen for at least one year group to run a stop frame animation project and managed to persuade the teachers to take this on. I’ll be teaching one Y5 class on Friday and these children in turn will then teach the other classes. I am going to turn the whole class into ICT advisors, I might even get them creating help guides. The afternoon was spent with the TAs, this time I was showing them how to use the Digi-Blue cameras. They started by taking live footage from around the school then downloading it onto the computer and adding effects. After coffee we made stop frame animations using toy animals from the nursery. As you might expect, things got very loud and very silly, my favourite movie was an abridged version of March of the Penguins.
Renee cooked for us in the evening and it was lovely to have home cooked food again. She also introduced us to her extensive shoe collection! For dessert, they drove us to an ice cream parlour called “Marble Slab” where we had the most amazing ice-cream! My only tip would be to have the ice cream in a tub and not a cone. I chose a cone and managed to make a complete mess of things much to the delight of the others.
To top the evening off, we played pool at Slick Willies (Unfortunately, the S is missing from the neon sign!) It’s official, I am useless at pool, but it was great fun hanging out in a proper Texan pool hall!
