Go Back Monday 27th November – Training Day This was the day I had been most apprehensive about – being flown 4000 miles to train a whole staff of teachers who we knew very little about. In the end we had about 25 primary teachers in the morning and about 20 secondary staff in the afternoon. I am very pleased to say both sessions went really well. See me training Whenever we train a large staff like this it is always very difficult to meet everyone’s needs. In every school staff there are those who are more enthusiastic than others, those who are more confident than others and those who have more experience than others. Getting the balance just right can be a bit tricky. See the staff hard at work Despite my apprehension, the staff responded very well to the material we planned. The examples we gave were very well received and pretty much everyone left the room enthused to go back to class and try out their new skills. Lunch time was like no other lunch we had ever had in any staff room before! Most schools have had a “Bring a dish” buffet before, but nothing like this! Glazed hams, roast turkey, home made quiche, not to mention an assortment of sweets and wine! See the lunch The afternoon didn’t start off too smoothly as the technicians had forgotten to install the Smart Notebook software in the computer lab we were working in! After a quick relocation, I started work with the secondary staff. I admit I was more than a little worried about this session having never taught in KS3 or 4 before. However, I was bowled over by the welcome and enthusiasm from the upper school staff and am really looking forward to doing more work with them later on in the week. We went straight out for dinner at a restaurant called Chilies in the Galleria. Renee and Steve joined me, Karen, Nikki and Jamie for frozen Margaritas and yet more mountains of food. At this rate I’ll need to book two seats on the plane on the way home! See us in Chili's Click here to see all the photos on my Snap fish site, you may need to create an account, but it,s free.
