Go Back Saturday - Shop 'til we drop Our first lie in since we arrived was a welcome relief. No more early morning calls for the first time in two weeks! The plan was to take a cab to City Hall and then the bus to the Space Centre. Only to discover that the bus doesn't run to the Space centre on the weekends. It would cost atleast $50 to get a cab to the Space Centre. So, being the confident, worldly wise travellers we are, we decided to catch the $1 bus to The Galleria and do our shopping today instead. You would think that we would have no difficulty finding the right bus stop using the American road naming system. All we had to do was find Walker & Travis. We thought we had - but noooo. Eventually, having almost got on a bus going in the opposite direction, walked around in a circle and stood on a street corner for 20minutes we caught the 82 to West Alabama and Post Oak. Bus trips are a great way to see the contrasting areas of a city, and this was no exception. A much deeper insight than all the freeway driving we've done. Despite rumours to the contrary I don't love shopping that much but it had to be done! The pound is even stronger against the dollar now than when we left and there were some great bargains not to be missed. After 5hrs shopping we decided to call it a day and came back to the hotel. I had to buy a new suitcase to accomodate all my new purchases - how could I turn down the opportunity to buy new nail varnish colours, peanut butter M & Ms & Aunt Jemima's maple syrup? And Ken is the very proud owner of Skechers trainers! Go Back
