How to use the diaries

  • Teacher gives out the PLDs at the start of each lesson;
  • Teacher asks the pupils to read the 3/4 key questions in the PLD while the class is being registered;
  • During the lesson pupils place any printouts they have produced, inside their folded A/3 PLD;
  • At the end of the lesson, during the plenary, the teacher has an open ended discussion with the class about the key questions in the PLD. The idea is for pupils to think about a range of responses they could make to the questions, rather than being given the 'right' answer by the teacher. Once the discussion has taken place, pupils should have 5 minutes, at the end of the plenary, to write up their responses. Once completed, all printouts are replaced inside the folded A3 PLD and handed into the teacher for marking.
