The following are some suggestions for managing the on-line diaries in lessons following the introductory lesson:
- Teacher asks pupils to log onto their on-line diary and then access the relevant lesson e.g. ‘lesson 1’ and read the 3/4 key questions in the diary while the class is being registered. Pupils should also read the feedback from the teacher/teaching assistant or their peer.
- Teacher teaches the lesson, e.g. lesson 1
- During the lesson, where appropriate, the teacher reminds pupils about the ‘help’ page to record their progress and to alert the teacher to any problems they are having; the ‘resources’ page to access worksheets and the ‘glossary’ page to review definitions of vocabulary
- At the end of the lesson, during the plenary, the teacher asks the pupils to discuss in pairs their responses to the questions in the on-line diary. The teacher moves around the class, listening to the pupil discussions. The teacher then invites 3 pupils to give their response to the 3 questions for the lesson. Pupils are then given 5 minutes to complete their responses to the questions in their on-line diaries, save their work and log off.
- After each or several lessons the teacher should provide feedback to the pupils by completing the ‘feedback’ section of each lesson
