Healthy Loughborough
More good news this week! Loughborough School achieved ‘Healthy Schools’ status. This involved a team of Inspectors spending half a day looking at all aspects of the school's activity to ensure that we are promoting healthy lifestyles for our children. I'm happy to report that they were really impressed and the school achieved the award with flying colours!
In fact, the team were so impressed that they want to use Loughborough School as an example of outstanding practice! I would like to recognise the huge efforts of Ms Reid, Ms Rose, Ms Russell and Lorna Simmons. It is this team, with the support of all the staff and children, who ensure that the school offers an excellent experience in this area. A big well done to all concerned.
This inspection, together with the high praise from OFSTED following their inspection of our Children's Centre, indicate that all at Loughborough School are striving to provide excellent services to our community and are, for the large part, succeeding. These successes are a team effort and all of the staff appreciate the fantastic support that parents and carers give to the school.

OFSTED Praise Our Children's Centre
Great news from our Children’s Centre! An OFSTED inspector visited the Children’s Centre this week and was very impressed. In all areas of provision she thought that the Centre was good. She commented that to achieve this high praise in such a short time was outstanding.
I would like to thank all the staff associated with the Children Centre for their hard work, skill and commitment. It is due to their huge effort that our community enjoy such a wonderful Centre. The leadership of Mrs Eade, Ms Mauro and Nigel French should be recognised also. As you know there were many delays in getting the Centre open and they have had little time to develop the services before this inspection. So to get such high praise is a massive achievement so a big well done to all concerned.
I hope that all of our community will have the opportunity to use the Centre. I would suggest that you contact Nigel French, the Family Services Manager, and he will be more than happy to tell you all about the opportunities that are available.

National Recognition for Loughborough
I am very proud to report that our school has been given ‘National Leaders of Education’ Status. This is an award to those schools that have shown great improvement, high standards and are examples of excellent practice. This award recognises the effort of the whole community over the past few years in making Loughborough School an excellent school. The award has been given by the National College for School Leadership and the Department for Education and Skills.
Only 67 of these awards have been given and we were one of them. Everyone associated with the school should feel proud of their efforts and success. However we must not stop there. We should always seek to improve the education we offer our children and the services we provide for our community. I can assure you that everyone at the school will be trying hard to do exactly that. By working together we will improve the school further and enjoy greater success.
