Lunchtime

There is a choice of lunchtime arrangements. Children can either have a school lunch or bring a packed lunch. If you wish to change from one system to another, please do so at the end of the term and make sure you inform the office. Full-time nursery children have lunch as part of their day.
A menu is placed on the Parents / Carers notice boards. This menu is subject to alteration. The food for the whole school is cooked on the premises. There is always a choice of main courses including a vegetarian dish as well as a selection of vegetables, salads and puddings.
School meals are payable in advance and money is usually collected on Mondays for the whole week. The cost is (at time of printing) £6.50 for the week or £1.30 per day.
Envelopes are available from the office. Please mark it with the class and the child’s name and hand it directly to the office to avoid any loss. Cheques are welcome, as is payment for the whole or half term. Please make cheques payable to Hitherfield Primary school.
Your child is only entitled to free lunches if you are receiving Family Income Support. If it is your case, please bring your Income Support as well as your Child Benefit books to the office where you will be asked to complete an application form for Free School Meals

PLEASE NOTE: It is now ILLEGAL for us to provide a child with a school lunch which has not been paid for in advance. We may have to refuse a child a meal, if a debt is left unpaid despite reminders.

Educational visits:

Children are taken out from school on visits of many kinds. When your child comes into school we ask you to sign a general consent form. Sometimes the children visit local parks and shops and on other occasions we take them further afield. We always notify you by letter when visits by transport are taking place, giving you the details and asking you to help with the cost. Parents / Carers are encouraged to accompany the children.

Charges for visits:

Hitherfield Primary School follows current legislation with regard to charging for school activities. We try to keep costs to a minimum but will ask Parents / Carers for a voluntary contribution towards certain activities such as educational outings and school journeys. If there are insufficient contributions, trips may be cancelled.
