YEAR 6 SHORT INTERVIEW WITH THE PE CO-ORDINATOR

Early Years – Nursery & Reception:
Nursery and Reception classes offer a planned environment that nurtures and develops social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs of all the children.

Emphasis is placed on literacy and the development of language. All the activities provide foundations for studying the National Curriculum subjects.

Key Stage 1 - Year 1 & 2:
The National Curriculum is introduced in Yr.1. We have two classes in each year group. The end of Key Stage 1, i.e. Year 2, assessment takes place in the form of S.A.T.S.

Key Stage 2 – Year 3 to 6:
There are two classes in each year group. Key Stage 2 assessment takes place at the end of Year 6 in the form of S.A.T. Individual profiles are kept from Nursery through to Year 6. Every child is regularly assessed and yearly reports are available for Parents / Carers, who are invited each term to talk about their child’s progress.

Classroom Teaching:
We ensure that the children progressively cover all programmes of study by working from the school’s long term curriculum planning charts – year group teachers plan together weekly and ensure that a broad and balanced curriculum is offered. Skills and concepts are planned in detail half-termly, using schemes of work. The sharing of experiences and acknowledging each other’s achievements are regarded as vital to the positive development of our school and the individuals in it.
