Maths
        Place value, read and write numbers to 100 000, rounding to nearest 10/100,
      Rapid recall of +-x and ÷ facts, counting on/back in equal steps above and below zero, mentally +/- any pair of 2-digit numbers giving a total above and below 100, use of doubling and halving as an aid to mental X and ÷
      Develop efficient use of calculator in addition to developing written methods for the four operations and the relationships between the four operations, using the four operations to solve problems
     Fractions, decimals and percentages – mixed numbers (eg 2 ¾ ), improper fractions (top>bottom),equivalent fractions, decimal notation and %
       Ratio and Proportion, simple probability, bar and bar line graphs
Science
       Life Cycles - Through this unit children learn that plants and animals reproduce as part of their life cycle and that in every life cycle there are distinct processes and stages. They should begin to understand how reproduction is important to the survival of the species.

Keeping healthy –healthy and varied diet, harmful effects of drugs, during exercise the heart beats faster and why, record pulse, present findings in graph form

     Stories by significant writers – features of good openings and experiment with different ones in own writing, compare structures, refer to text to back up evaluations, write new scenes/chapters into the text in the style of the original text

   Recounts – features of, write own recounts

       Poetry – analyse and compare poetic styles, explain preferences for different poets/poems, write poems based on feelings

      Play scripts – understand dramatic conventions, annotate scripts for performance, write own scripts

       Regular reading at home and at school

     Invasion Games – team play, game strategies, defending and attacking skills including shooting skills
