THE GOVERNING BODY – WHAT WE DO

  • The Governing Body, with the Headteacher, sets the direction for the school and decides how the school’s budget should be spent.
  • It makes decisions on matters such as performance targets, school policies and the school’s development plan.
  • It monitors the impact of policies and oversees the use of the school’s budget.
  • It reports to parents on the school’s achievements and responds to inspection recommendations.
  • It hears appeals from pupils and staff and considers complaints.
  • Governors provide the Headteacher with support and advice, drawing on their knowledge and experience.
  • They ask searching questions and respect the Headteacher’s position as professional leader of the school.

If there are any issues about the school you wish to raise, you should always, in the first instance, speak to the Headteacher. If you still feel that you wish to take the matter further, please feel free to contact the governing body collectively by writing to the Chair of Governors c/o the school office.
