Friends of Gillespie (FoG)

Friends of Gillespie (FoG) is our Home School Association and all Gillespie parents, carers and staff are automatically members. Our aims are to advance the education and quality of life of pupils of Gillespie Primary School and their families. We do this by organising fun social events such as the Summer Fair and International Food Evening and through other forms of fundraising.

In 2006 Friends of Gillespie gained charitable status and we held our first AGM in the spring term of 2007 together with a popular family quiz evening.

Projects and resources we have funded include:

• New drinking fountains for the children
• New school reading books
• Trolley for the new school fruit shop which the School Council runs
• Digital camera and camcorder
• Bike to School Project - with funds from Groundwork Trust for new bike and scooter racks and cycling proficiency courses for adults and children
• Soundstart Orchestra instruments – FoG fundraised to pay for some of the violins and cellos used in the Gillespie Orchestra – free whole-class string instrument tuition and playing.
