Design & Technology
D & T prepares pupils to participate in tomorrows rapidly changing technologies. They learn to think and intervene creatively to improve quality of life. This subject calls for pupils to be autonomous and creative problem solvers, as individuals and members of a team.
Pupils are taught to:
q Use communication skills such as drawing, speaking and listening and modelling in their designing activities
q Use a range of tools and materials in their practical work
q Become increasingly independent in their designing and making
q Record the results of their evaluations and design ideas
q Gather ideas from observation, information media and other people
Design and Technology has cross-curricular links with many other subject areas. Teaching of Design and Technology will follow the school and borough health and safety policy. Teachers will be aware of the organisation of safe procedures and hygiene when pupils are working. At Norwood Green we deliver design and technology through our half termly topics and encourage food technology in many activities.
