SECONDARY SCHOOLS

New science resources at Gunnersbury such as the class set of data loggers, are made available to other schools in the borough whenever possible.

The Science department also plans to involve its partner secondary schools, Gumley and Brentford School for Girls in the Science Around the world scheme. This project (which is sponsored by GlaxoSmithKlein) pairs British schools with schools in other countries to work in teams on various scientific topics.

PRIMARY SCHOOLS

A programme of masterclasses for primary school children organised by the science department for the summer term.

A group of pupils from each school are given the chance to learn about science topics in a real lab environment. For many, this is the first time they havehad access to practical science in a fully equipped laboratory.

Partner schools are offered assistance by Gunnersbury sixth formers, who go to the primary schools to support in Science and Maths lessons. In addition Gunnersbury provide teacher training in both science and maths in a series of Inset sessions for staff from its partner primary schools.
