The library provides a focus for independent learning in the school, allowing pupils and staff to access information, read, borrow books and study quietly. Daniel, Jamal, Matthew, Brendan, Kenneth, Jorge, Philip, Stephen, Mark, Nathan, Shaun. Nnamdi, Andre and Denis do a splendid job. Activities All Year 7 pupils have 4 induction sessions in the library to develop their information handling skills and foster a love of reading. The 007 game arouses great enthusiasm as pupils learn to find their way around the Dewey Decimal Classification System. A reading group meets Thursday lunchtime to read and discuss books from different genres. This is open to all pupils from Years 7 to 10. Five members of this group represented the school at Hounslow’s Big Read Day at Brentford Learning Zone, organised by the School Library Service. Our group enjoyed the day winning a prize for their presentations on Scorpia and The Wind Singer. During the Summer term a group shadows the Carnegie/Greenaway medals giving boys an opportunity to read newly published, high quality children’s literature and compare their opinions to those of the national (adult) panel.
