Making a difference
It is our aim to produce young men and women who will take their values beyond the school and promote a better, more just society. By working with Plan International, Gunnersbury students make a real and tangible difference to the lives of children in deprived and primitive surroundings. The Sixth Form students in Gunnersbury have raised more than £5,000 for charity over the last 4 years. They have organised many fund-raising events including talent contests, football matches, pool competitions and walks. The highlight of the charity year is the Gunnersbury Charity Walk. Monies raised help to pay for the sponsorship of four young children through Plan International as well as some national and local charities.
The Student Leadership Team
In Gunnersbury Sixth Form, we want students to have a voice and to play a principal role in making decisions that affect not only the senior students but the younger boys.
The Leadership Team is made up of
- Deputy Headboy James Canderton
- Deputy Headgirl Jasmine Assinor
supported by
- Senior Prefects from Year 13
- Prefects from Year 12
It is the responsibility of the Headboy and Headgirl to manage the work of the various teams of Prefects within the school community.
The Leadership Team’s job is to manage Sixth Form Centre, organise social activities and work with younger years on the School Council and in Form Groups in Years 7-11. They plan a variety of activities over the term including sports competitions, fund raising activities, Social Justice Forum, Faith Forum, Black History Month celebrations and our hugely popular International Evening. The social highlight of the year is the Graduation Summer Ball. This takes place after the final A Level examinations and will take place in early July 2008 at the Tara Copthorne Hotel in Kensington. It is a very glamorous occasion with students looking magnificent in full evening dress. Year 13 students are fully responsible for the planning and organisation of the Graduation Ball.
