Enrichment opportunities
There is wide range of opportunities open to students at Gunnersbury to take part in social, cultural and vocational activities. These activities play an important part in developing your personal skills and qualities and in relieving the pressure of work.
All students who are accepted into Gunnersbury Sixth Form are invited to a two day Induction at the end of June prior to starting Year 12, followed by a 3rd day in early September. The activities are challenging and success depends on teamwork.
Some activities support your academic work. There are visits to the theatre, art galleries, and specialist libraries as well as to a range of universities and colleges. Many students take part in work experience and field trips. Other opportunities include :
? Gifted and Talented students will be invited to attend Masterclasses at universities such as Imperial College, Chelsea School of Art and Westminster, to name a few
? All students may take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Silver or Gold Award Scheme.
? All students will have an opportunity to debate with other Hounslow Sixth Formers or to participate in the Hounslow Faith Forum
? Students may choose to participate in the UK Fulcrum Challenge
? Supporting younger students in Mock Trial Competitions
? Write and produce your own stage productions
? BTEC students will have an opportunity to enhance their studies with a Work Experience placement
? Modern Foreign Language students are invited to participate in a residential work experience in Bonn (German), Rouen (French) or Seville (Spanish).
? Students may wish to become a Sixth Form Prefect.
? Mondays and Fridays after school are devoted to Sixth Form sport and exercise for all. Football, rugby, netball, dance and basketball are some of the activities available. Sixth Formers coach and support school teams in lower years. The first XV rugby and football teams are very successful and train every week. Staff teams have been known to invite some Sixth Form students to play for them!
