                               Aims of the Sixth Form

Gunnersbury Catholic School exists to serve the needs of each individual young man and woman, developing the whole personality by fostering qualities of mind, body and spirit in a supportive Catholic community.  Our commitment is expressed in our Mission statement in the following terms :

‘Gunnersbury Catholic School strives to educate all its pupils within an environment where the Catholic traditions of learning, truth, justice, respect and community are promoted.’

This commitment has led us to set ourselves three aims:

Ø  To build a community based on Christian values

Ø  To maximise the potential of the individual student within the school in academic, personal, physical, social and spiritual terms

Ø  To produce young men and women who will take their values beyond the school to promote a better, more just society

Life in the Sixth Form at Gunnersbury is quite different from that in years seven to eleven. There is a wider range of subjects to choose, teaching groups tend to be smaller but the social group is larger. Non-contact periods and personal study time are an integral part of the school day as responsibility for learning begins slowly to shift from teacher to student.

At Gunnersbury, we provide the framework and support needed to produce responsible and mature young men and women, who can leave Gunnersbury with a sense of achievement and a set of personal values and experiences that will enable them to successfully meet their next challenge in life.
