Working Together

After your initial visit to the school, on acceptance into the Nursery, the Nursery Staff arrange a home visit.

At the start of the new academic year each class holds a curriculum evening where the class teacher introduces a broad view of the coming year.

There will be formal opportunities once a term for you to meet with your child's class teacher.

You are welcome to make an appointment at any other time to discuss specific issues.

A full school report is issued at the end of each academic year.

Parental support is actively encouraged and highly valued.

We have a Home School Agreement which formalises our commitment to your child's education.

Equal Opportunities

The school has adopted the London Borough of Hounslow's policy for Equal Opportunities.

The basis of this policy is to ensure equality of access and opportunity for all regardless of race, sex, age, social background or ability.

Attendance

Pupils are expected to attend regularly.

In the case of illness or emergency parents are asked to contact the school as early as possible on the first day of such absence. It is of the utmost importance to the safety of your child. A letter explaining the reason for the absence must be sent with the child on the first day back. In the case of prolonged absence, particularly or infectious ailments, please contact the school regarding the necessary number of days exclusion.

It is therefore essential that we are informed of any change of address or telephone number at home and at work.

Absences for any cause other than illness or emergency require prior notification to the headteacher. Written requests should be submitted to the headteacher well in advance of such proposed absences.

The school is responsible to the education authority for attendance. Class registers are examined regularly by the Educational Welfare Officer, who will contact the home to establish reasons for any unexplained or prolonged period of absence or lateness.

Attendance figures for the School Prospectus - 2006 to 2007

1. There were a total number of 201 pupils of compulsory school age that attended during the above period. The period ended on the 26th May 2007.

2. The percentage of sessions missed, through authorised and unauthorised absence, for the above pupils and period is 3.6%.

Resolving Difficulties

At The Blue School we pride ourselves on the strength of our community - we believe that by all sectors of our community working together we can move forward.

If there is something you are unsure of please come in and ask. If you feel you would like to discuss an issue with your child’s class teacher, at length, then please contact the school to arrange a mutually convenient time.

The headteacher is more than willing to discuss appropriate issues with any members of our community and if you feel you need to do this please do not hesitate in contacting the school and arranging a mutually convenient time.

We adhere to the London Diocesan Board of Schools document 'Working Together' which outlines the appropriate procedures for resolving difficulties which are not related to the curriculum.

Guidelines are set out for dealing with issues concerning the curriculum in the government paper entitled 'section 23'.

Copies of both these documents are available from the school office.
