All children take part in physical education lessons which are suitable to the age of the children. Our hall is equipped with ample and appropriate apparatus for gymnastics and games, dance and movement. Parents are encouraged to see the great value of P.E. as a contribution to their child’s health and wellbeing and to encourage participation in all lessons, unless serious reasons prevent it. Children unable to take part in any lesson should bring a note giving the reason for being excused. We have our own heated, indoor swimming pool and children have weekly lessons. Older children visit the local swimming pool to develop diving, lifesaving and distance skills. Children in Key Stage 2 participate in outdoor pursuits courses provided by Stubbers Adventure Centre. At this time, courses include canoeing, sailing, orienteering, climbing, archery, team building and problem-solving. The school enters teams of children in most local sports – football, netball, rugby, swimming, athletics, cricket and cross-country. All children should be provided with necessary kit, kept in school so that it is readily available.
