Psychology at Advanced Level

Why Study Psychology?

If you wonder why people behave the way that they do and want to know more about the causes of behaviour then studying psychology is for you.

Psychology sets out to see how the brain and mind affect human behaviour. It is a subject that links well with all areas of the curriculum, but especially art, design, history, sociology, humanities, literature and language of the sciences.

Studying Psychology will help you learn to analyse situations, to think objectively and to communicate your ideas both verbally and in the written word. But most of all it will teach you to question things you take for granted in the social world around you!

The A/S course is assessed in three one-hour examinations. The A2 course is assessed in a one-and-a-half hour and a two hour essay paper. The coursework module is an assessed experiment and written report of two thousand words.
