Key Stage 3

*      The department aims to give all girls the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to apply ICT successfully to finding things out, developing their ideas, and exchanging and sharing information.

*      By the end of Key Stage 3 all girls should be able to use ICT securely, confidently, creatively and independently and be equipped to go on to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding at a higher level. We will also be preparing girls for the new ICT KS3 SAT’S online tests.

*      In Years 7, 8 and 9 all girls study ICT though discrete lessons as well as having opportunities to use ICT in other curriculum areas. Each girl will study ICT as a discrete subject for a minimum of 1 hour a week.

 Assessment for Learning
Girls’ work is assessed against the National Curriculum Levels for ICT.
We issue girls with a target sheet against which they can measure their own progress and see how to move on to a higher level.
Formal assessment takes place at the end of each unit through both a written theory test and assessment of coursework tasks completed throughout the year.
Opportunities are also provided for girls to assess each other’s work, and therefore to reflect on how to improve their own work.
