Health And Social Care
This subject is all about finding out about health issues, why and how people grow and develop as they do, what factors influence that growth and development, what the National Health Service (NHS) is all about and what other services are needed by an ever changing society.
This is a vocational subject so pupils have an opportunity to apply learning in a practical and realistic way, develop Key Skills which are highly valued by employers and further education and gain confidence by developing independent learning skills.
Key Stage 4
At Key Stage 4 pupils follow the 3 Unit Btec First Certificate which is equal to a double GCSE award. At Btec First level all work is assessed by means of assignments linked to specific learning outcomes at Pass, Merit or Distinction grade. There are no exams.
The Core compulsory units are Communication and individual Rights Individual Needs

- Creative and Therapeutic Activities
Key Stage 5
At Key Stage 5 pupols have the option of following the A level Health and Social Care course as single or double option. 1/3rd of the work is assessed by examination and 2/3rds by portfolio assignments.
The single A2 level is 6 units and the double 12.
The A level combines well with a range of others such as Biology, Psychology, P.E, Sociology etc.,
