Early Years Foundation Stage

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) will become statutory from September 2008. This powerpoint presentation will help you to brief your colleagues. Click here to download this EYFS briefing. Please click on save, and save onto your computer, then open. If you are asked for a password you do not need to enter one. Simply click on OK and the presentation will appear.

Haringey Early Years Profile

These documents can now be modified to suit your particular setting. Click on the document you want. A box will appear asking whether you want to 'open' or 'save' the file. Choose 'save'. It will be saved onto your computer as a Word file. You can then open it off-line and modify it as you wish, like any Word Document.

These files should open automatically, if the necessary software is properly installed on your hard disk, if it is not save each required file to your Hard Disk To do this on a Mac hold down the ALT(Option) Key & click on the link you require. If using a PC Save the file by doing a Right Click on the link you require and selecting Save to Disk option. You may then open the file in the preferred Program.

Early Excellence in Haringey

The London Borough of Haringey has a network of three Nursery Centres which have been given the status of Early Excellence Centres by the Department for Education and Employment. They are Pembury House Centre for Childhood, Rowland Hill Centre for Childhood and Woodlands Park Nursery Centre. The three Centres work together towards developing high quality integrated education and care. They also act as cenres to share ideas and good practice to other providers of early childhood education and care in Haringey.

 

The Foundation Stage

The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) is responsible for developing the curriculum and assessment in England, as well as qualifications for early years practioners. The American National Association for the Education of Young Children gives useful summaries of current developments in the US.

Special Needs

In Haringey, a growing number of children with special education needs are included in their local Foundation Stage setting: Nursery Classes, Playgroups, Under 5s Centres and Nursery Centres.
