St Paul’s is a small, friendly and caring school where all members of our school community are committed to providing the best learning opportunities and experiences for our children. We are a school where the teachings of Christ informs our actions and the way we treat one another. St Paul’s Catholic School is a one form entry, co-educational Catholic Primary School for boys and girls aged 4 to 11. Situated within the London Borough of Haringey, St Paul’s is a voluntary aided school under the trusteeship of the Diocese of Westminster. Our school is in Wood Green, adjacent to St Paul’s Church with whom we have strong links.
There has been a school on this site serving the needs of the parish for over a hundred years. The building is designed to provide spaces for 210 children in 7 classes from Reception to Year 6. Our school reflects the multicultural nature of our parish and we celebrate this.
Wood Green Shopping City is near by as is Wood Green Common which we use for sports days and some PE lessons. The school is close to Wood Green Underground and Alexandra Park British Rail station.
Alexandra Park is a short walk away. It is a big park, with spectacular views over London. It includes an exhibition hall, boating lake, ice rink, conservation area, deer enclosure and seasonally has funfairs.
Our school day starts at 8.55am and finishes at 3.15pm. Our children follow a broad curriculum which embraces all the National Curriculum Subjects. The curriculum encompasses the following core subjects: Religious Education, English, Mathematics, Science and Information Technology, together with the foundation subjects of Design Technology, History, Geography, Art, Music and Physical Education. Other areas such as Health and Citizenship have direct links with core and foundation subjects and are taught through topic based themes. Many topics are based around historical, geographical or scientific themes but there are also occasions when some areas are taught as subjects in their own right. Italian is taught once a week in classes from Year 2 to Year 6.
The school has an ICT suite which contains sixteen networked and internet linked PCs and all classrooms have an additional 1 networked and internet linked computer and an interactive whiteboard which are used to enhance teaching and learning. We are a lead school within the borough in the dissemination of good practice in using this resource. ICT is used across a range of National Curriculum subjects to support child’s learning.
